approximately 800 players played in the qualification tournament and well, have to admit, I don't really see the sense on how to find skilled HeadsUp players in an MTT qualification tournament ... glad that im a dedicated MTT player and firstly started as short handed specialist (6 seated sit n go + HU) - played really tight and picked up some monster hands in the top 40 phase where most feared to bubble
when the top 20 was done, they all fall like flies (as usually) and I waited patiently and got a solid 2nd place for some extra cash - think it was like 30$, although I don't really need it but I never moan about some extra cash
so afterwards we had the closed first HeadsUp League with 19 matches and the top 8 had been foreseen to play in the international playoffs afterwards against the UK and France - so it was just the question to perform a solid run and get under the top 8 to ensure the chance to win more cash like in the normal league
well played there and dominated 90% of my matches, lost once against a 2 outer and once against a 3 outer - one hand was a rivered straight for me that ran into the rivered full house from my opponent, thats just bad luck - the other game I played really badly when I had a flue
but 15 out of 19 games I mostly dominated and won after I had shrunken my opponents stack and won the final coinflip or even went in the tank with the better hand preflop - at the end I had 3 wins more than the 2nd place and finished the first season as 1st
in the playoffs, I had a walk in the first round and dominated the next 2 rounds as well (best of 3 mode) - each time had a 2-0 lead and afterwards my opponents gave up
so I am now heading to the semi-finals (20.00 german time tonight) and looking forward to win and grab at least 4.000 $ for the runner up of the final, so far got 2.500 $ save for reaching the semi-final - the winner of the final takes down a nice 5.000$ and im surely after that, so a bit of luck always helps and bring it on!
