I got my work laptop for over a year now and never had any issues with it or Windows 7 (I tend to call it Windoom), but fortunately I always run weekly backups of my work data just in case. Because when the "impossible" does in fact happen, well if all data is lost the sh1t hits the fan.
It's true ... we don't know what we've got until its gone, but we don't know what we've been missing until it arrives. Being prepared just saves us from more confusion and trouble ... and that strategy usually worked out pretty well for me in the past. Fortunately I just lost 2 days of work and it might take more effort to catch up with everything, but it could have been worse imo ... a few drafts for articles and blogs are lost, but maybe they were not supposed to happen anyways. While writing this blog I am still trying to copy over data and install all programs as we speak.
Let's just hope that this was some good karma because it still happened in 2010 and not early 2011, I don't really need another crappy year ... . Best of luck on and off the tables.
