An angel

The smile has left my face,
But I know you are at a better place,
Free of all the pain,
Yet you never used to complain.

God must have been really desperate,
To burden you such a fate,
But you never wanted to hide,
And always took it with pride.

When I now look out at night,
There is a new star shining so bright,
A new angel must be,
But what an outrageous fee.

You never told us to worry,
Listened to each of our story,
Showing us all there is more,
Truly worth fighting for.

I remember all the advice,
Whenever I was in disguise,
Such a golden heart,
Nobody can tear that apart.

Now god has given you the key,
The time has come to feel free,
I can imagine you on that cloud,
You made all of us proud.

I was praying you would get stronger,
To stay with us for longer,
But there is just so much one can take,
And you deserve that final break.

You will never be forget.
