Donk Equity meets Mad Tilt

Wednesday, August 17, 2011 Posted by Unknown No comments
I have to admit that this was the first time for quite a while that I tilted at the tables, fortunately I never really keep enough on a specific site to make it hurt when you lighten the fire and smoke it through in one session. Today was definitely above the usual rate but it also helped to blow off some long overdue steam, because it's not good in the long run either to keep that inside and it makes more sense to let it go when you can more or less control it.

Looking over the hand histories from today I immediately see 2-3 hands where it was just pure mad tilt, the rest was still ahead preflop and flipping ... if you can even call A-K vs K-T and A-K vs K-6 a flip with 20-30xBB in HeadsUp SNG. To cut the story short, short time variance will always bite you in the ass if you play overly aggressive and don't care much about the postflop play.

It might be one of these days where you can't hit any draw and run from one setup into the other, e.g.  flopping the nuts and get outdrawn. You hit the second best hand and there is always someone that happens to hold the nuts and slap you in the face.

Don't get me wrong, I am still pissed that I blew away that money but at the same time it also felt refreshing to finally release some stress and that can hardly be counted in $. At the very end it is only money and can be earned again ... but a fresh mind is by far harder to maintain and / or regain.

So what do you actually do when you just had one of the worst experiences at the tables as of lately? You jump in a Freeroll besides getting some work done and try to find some fun again ... a few hours later you may or may not have epic bragging rights, having successfully defeated hundreds of "donks".

Donk equity ... sometimes you have it ... even more funny when you win with the favorite hand as well, just sucks that I didn't hit the flush. But it was sooooooted. 441 players and top 9 paid in this massive $25 Freeroll, one full stack to donk around on NL10 for first place.
