Flirting with Lady Luck

Saturday, June 11, 2011 Posted by Unknown No comments

It is obviously fun to flirt with women, at least when everyone involved knows what they are doing. But Lady Luck is not always charming and when you don’t pay attention, she will be taking your money. Some action is always fun, but you have to be careful as well and know your limits, otherwise you might get in trouble.

You have to be prepared that she will change her mind with every flop, turn or river and your Aces will get crushed by suited connectors. Obviously you always want to get the best out of it (value), but in order to make profit you will first have to invest some money without a 100% guarantee that it will pay off in the long run. But with the right strategy and education, you are on the best way.

Most people that have not played poker before just go with the common understanding and consider it as gambling and evil, but if you have never actually done something how can you judge it in a reasonable and non-biased way? Experience does matter and poker is an easy to learn game, yet it takes a lifetime to master and there will probably always be someone that is better than you in a specific aspect of the game.

The game of poker itself is always moving and without consistently working on your game and learning more about all aspects, you will always depend on luck. If you sit down at a table, your main goal is to win by skill and not “getting lucky” … one of the major differences between poker and flirting. Well okay, getting lucky is a bonus … lol. But if you want to gain an edge and outplay your opponent, you have to be patient and pay attention.

The success doesn’t come over night and you might lose a few buy ins first, but at the very end it will be worth it if you found the right women errr I mean strategy, of course. Lady Luck often has mood swings and can get really bitchy, so you have to please her from time to time. If you want to make the right move, you might have to pay off your opponent first to gain more information about your opponent. Was he really bluffing or did he have the balls … to bet again when a scare card showed up on the river?

One thing is for sure, sometimes you have to gamble and without moves and taking some risks here and there you will always depend on luck. But with the right education and strategy you can minimize the influence of luck and win by far more consistently. And you know what? It feels damn good.

P.S. this was a poker related blog and I am not responsible for anything that readers might be able to read between the lines :D
