It is the beginning of a new week at work again and you can feel the outburst of motivation after taking the first taste of fresh coffee on your lips ... and wake up, damn it was just a dream. Well okay, everything but the outburst of motivation is no fairytale and a kick in the nuts. You take a quick look at the calendar and despite thinking it could not get any worse ... you suddenly realize that the month end is around the corner as well and you got a sh1t load of work to do.
At the very end we also notice that the work has to be done because others rely on it, sure it might not be the most entertaining and amusing way to spend the day but work usually doesn't give a sh1t if you have fun or not. Because if you don't do the work, you will have lots of fun to catch up with everything at ungodly hours and run around like a zombie, Wait, I already do that from time to time.
Don't get me wrong, even though it might sound sarcastic and pessimistic ... I like my job most of the time because I am good at it. Obviously some aspects and parts of the work are more enjoyable than others, but at the end it only matters that it is part of my responsibility and I usually take that very serious. You probably won't find another idiot that tends to pick up more work left and right, but I guess we are all creatures of habit.
As long as I don't run out of coffee and / or hot chocolate and my ISP doesn't decide to kill the internet connection after screwing up a network update, I guess I am still on track to get everything done. Sleep is overrated anyways ... you can sleep when you are dead. Hmmm what is that? Oh yeah another email and problem that needs to be fixed as soon as possible. Time to put on the favorite playlist on iTunes and turn up the volume - note to myself: Don't forget to use earphones, otherwise the neighbors gonna be pissed off at ~2 in the morning.
