PKR releases new 2.08 software

Wednesday, July 18, 2012 Posted by Unknown , , No comments

It has been anticipated for quite some time and 3-D Poker provider PKR has finally released a new software update that should help all players that tend to play multiple tables. So far the tables used to spawn in the same window, but now you can open up to 9 tables at the same time and each one shows in a separate window. They can get cascaded, tiled, re-sized or simply arranged wherever you want them, which is definitely an important improvement.

Another "fun" tool to cater to recreational players are the virtual drinks at the tables, that can be purchased with PKR Points and very much remind of the early days years ago on Paradise Poker. Other features include a new 'My Seat' camera angle, a revamped table chat panel and improved emote controls, upon first test though the software appeared to be a bit slow (keep in mind it that the update was just launched today) and has been hogging the CPU quite a bit still.

The upcoming weekend offers two special events of the Global Gaming Events with a $500 Freeroll at 3pm EST on July 21st and a $5.00 + $.50 Buyin with $2,500 added on July 22nd, where the winner of the Buy-In also receives a Masters $100k Guaranteed Tournament Ticket bonus prize valued at $270. Password for both tournaments: GGEPKR

If you don't have an account yet on PKR (Non US), you can sign up through Pokerspace and receive 30% Rakeback paid monthly to your player account.

OFC, Depositors Freerolls and more

Friday, July 22, 2011 Posted by Unknown , No comments
Hello all,

I am still waiting to hear back from 1-2 poker sites but the main schedule for next month looks good to go, the new Calendar for August 2011 will be uploaded middle of next week.

In the meanwhile I would like to draw your attention to some interesting non Pokerspace games.
This upcoming weekend, we have the OFC $500 Freeroll and the OFC 5.50 BuyIn 2k added on CarbonPoker and if you pre registered for these events, you should now be able to sign up in the poker client as the coupons have been issued.

On Sunday July 24th there is also a $500 First Depositors Freeroll on PokerPlayerCafe and if you already made your first deposit, you can still get a coupon for this tournament if you make a re-deposit.

The weekly Facebook and Pokerspace Gold Chip tournaments will be continued in August as well and if you have funds on PokerPlayerCafe, please sign up for our PPC $2 Buy-in + $20 Added - it starts one hour after the Gold Chip Freeroll and requires 3 players to start.

July 30th and 31st will see the next OFC event series, this time on EuroPoker and you can read more about it in the following article: Upcoming EuroPoker OFC Event - both tournaments are also listed on the calendar as well:

OFC $500 FREEROLL

OFC Automatic Win $2K Cash Added

As of August 1st 2011, Pokerspace will have a $500 Race on EuroPoker as well! They are part of the Ongame Network and thus not open to the US, but with the OFC tournaments and the race for all players that open the account through Pokerspace, it is a great opportunity to benefit from their VIP program to boost your bankroll.

July 31st also offers two further depositors Freerolls on LuvinPoker and Intertops:

$500 First Depositors Freeroll
You must make the first deposit on LuvinPoker within 2 months of the freeroll start date in order to be eligible to participate and can play in up to 4x$500 First Depositors Freerolls!

Intertops $1000 Depositors Freeroll
How to Qualify: Make a deposit (minimum of $20) and earn 10 FPP between July 1st and 27th on any real money cash game or tournament at Intertops Poker. Intertops will issue tickets to the players that have qualified to the $1,000 Depositor Freeroll on July 29th.

Pokerspace will also continue the Intertops $3 Buy-in + $25 Added Indy League in August as well. If you have funds on these sites, please sign up for the games and support Pokerspace and the hosting poker sites to help as continue these tournaments.

Next week there will also be a follow up blog for Just to let you know ... as well.

Thanks for your attention.

Viva Las Workas

Thursday, June 02, 2011 Posted by Unknown , No comments
I haven't been online much on Pokerspace lately due to personal reasons and was also busy with two part time things that involve translations for a lawyer and live event coverage for the iPoker skin Poker770. As a result of this, I will also be at Las Vegas during the time when the Live OFC will be held, but I am not sure how much time I will be able to spend at Downtown.

I have already received the confirmation that my full media credentials for the WSOP have been approved and my flight and hotel is also booked. I will be at Vegas late June 21st - July 5th and as far as it looks my first work day will be June 22nd already when our first players participate at the WSOP. I will stay at the Bally's because they also have a shuttle bus to the Rio's, I could care less about the hotel though since I am there to work.

The schedule looks pretty tough and we have quite a few online qualifiers in Event 45, thus I might only have a less busy day on June 28th and maybe July 2nd - 3rd. There is still a lot of planning to be done in advance to get a proper schedule, but I also want to meet up with a few close friends (you know who you are) and work contacts around the WSOP as well.

If you don't get to see me much at Vegas, you now know why. I really like that part of my work and look forward to the opportunity, I was already working at the EPT and WPT before, but this is the first time I got official media credentials for the WSOP (I did some work there for 888 back in 2007).

Thank you for your attention and understanding.

So close but yet so far ... again

Monday, May 23, 2011 Posted by Unknown , , No comments
First of all the good news: Pokerspace did really well last weekend in the Freeroll and BuyIn of the OnlineForumChallenge (OFC) and took 2nd in the Freeroll ranking and 1st in the BuyIn ranking.

Congratulations to OFC $10K Summer Series Event Month 1 Winners! JrMontana08 representing PokerSpace won the Freeroll Event on Saturday. CardsChat was the winning forum. On Sunday, dijwaila representing GottaTalkPoker won the Buyin Event and PokerSpace was the winning forum. For the results, click here.

And we were actually close to have two winners for the individual events, but unfortunately I came short and only finished 4th after a little rollercoaster on the final table. I guess the karma of bad beats on Saturday in my cashgame on Stars and the Cake network paid off though because I won with almost every better hand.

I probably could have won but played to win as well, first downfall on the final table: 44 vs 77 after preflop 3bet (as slight chipleader against a medium stack) and all in on flop 2 3 6, no help and lost 2/3 of my stack. I got back up to 2nd place and we were 4 handed, when the next weird action takes place: I push all in as 2nd stack with blinds 2.5k / 5k from SB with 110k, Big Blind snapcalls for his tourney life and 70k with J9os and hits the 9. A few hands later, I can steal twice and get em in again with KQ and the same player calls with 44, Board A - T - 9 - A (how many outs do you need?) ... River 4.

Ah well, karma is a b1tch. Good game.

It has been a while ...

Monday, May 16, 2011 Posted by Unknown , , No comments
I took a break from poker and at one point didn't even play for 3 weeks straight at all. It was not necessarily a question of motivation, but I wanted to focus more on work and also picked up a part time job as well. When I started playing poker, I used to play HeadsUp SNG and MTT's, but more or less switched back to HeadsUp SNG and Omaha cashgame.

- I finally played an "MTT" again
- I was able to hit a 2 outer for and not against me
- I got into the HeadsUp
- I hit a Royal Flush

Today I played in a Depositors Freeroll and managed to run with 2nd nutflush into the nutflush, not really any news for that part of my timing. I am also used to a very aggressive style on the bubble and in HeadsUp and pretty much dominated the final battle in the Pokerspace OFC Bonus Freeroll on Carbon as well, slowly going from even stacked to a 3-1 lead. After one flip we were back to even stacks and I took the lead again with aggressive play, after the last flip I took my chance again and well, there is not really a better way to finish a hand than hitting a "Royal Flush". Now you might say "pics or it never happened", you can verify it for yourself:

The amount doesn't really matter, but it is a nice confirmation that I still kinda know what I am doing at the tables. It's also a nice confidence boost and I will try to play more often after work and hit the Omaha tables again :)

Guess I should not really complain too much as it's free money after all, but once you got the opportunity I guess most would agree to be a bit selfish and hope to win the tournament. I had my fair share of good and bad luck, one hit with Kings vs Queens on the last 2 tables cost me a better position to begin with but I was able to fight back.

With 4 left I tried to bust another player with middle pair and gutshot but his top pair held, my JT were 2 live cards vs AK etc. ... . Lets just leave it at that: Not always the best starting hand won in the showdowns, but that is part of the game. I am happy with my play and the 4th place, especially after being down to 5xBB with 15 left.

Special congrats to vger and gypsy as well, gypsy came just short of the last 2 tables with 30 pay when her AK got beat by AT preflop. And well, sorry V ... hope ya still luv me . Pushed with 5xBB left close to the final table and into and hit one of my 2 live cards. The final coinflip was TT vs AQ for the Chiplead and turn was the Queen. Ah well, better luck next time.

I would say it was not bad in general, considering I am fighting with a migraine for 4 days now and also had to reinstall my whole operating system on my work and backup laptop. But 2011 was crap enough already and there is a light at the end of the tunnel.

What is the Online Forum Challenge / the Global Gaming Event?

Saturday, October 25, 2008 Posted by Unknown , , No comments
First of all, the Online Forum Challenge is an international forum battle where players from all over the world can fight out the best poker forum in each event and win extra prizes for themselves and also for the top 3 winning forums. The Global Gaming Events is part of the OFC, but here you mainly fight for the best nation in this events and win extra prizes as well - you can still also select your preferred poker forum and win extra prizes as well.

Can everyone participate in those events?

Yes the events are open to all players, but sometimes there are restrictions based on the hosting site of those events - for example, the iPoker sites do currently not allow players from the USA. The Global Gaming Events are usually only open to non USA players, but this is based on the current federal situation and the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act .

Of course, you also need an account at the hosting site - if you already got an account there but this one is not tracked to your preferred forum that you would like to represent, you can still sign up. If you dont have an account at the hosting site yet, please download the site from your preferred forum and set up a new account.

Do I need to deposit for the events from the OFC / GGE?

No, you dont need to deposit to be eligible and participate. But each event usually consists of a freeroll on saturday and a 5.50 $ Buy In on sunday on the weekend, when the event takes place. So if you dont have enough funds on your account, you can only participate in the freeroll and if you win enough money there, you can play in the BuyIn game one day later. There is no rule that you have to play both games, the freeroll and the BuyIn. But the added money and bonusprizes are usually higher in the BuyIn games - for example a WPT qualifier ticket worth 3.000 $ - the added prizes are shown in each tournament announcement.

How do I register for the OFC / GGE events?

1. When you have an existing account at the hosting site for the upcoming events, you can go to http://www.onlineforumchallenge.com and register there with your exact username and the e-mail adress used for the pokersite - you will get a notification to this e-mail adress that your pre-registration has been successfull.

2. When you dont have an existing account at the hosting site for the upcoming events, visit your preferred forum that you would like to represent and search for the download link there. There is nothing worse than wasting an account to the pokersite itself and have no tracking on your account. With tracking your account to your preferred forum, you support the forum and they will be able to offer more exclusive private games for its members. Afterwards follow step one.

The pre-registration:

1. You have to pre-register at the site http://www.onlineforumchallenge.com prior to the games (mostly until the wednesday before the tournaments take place), as they are all arranged as restricted events - either by restricted list or coupons. Thats why it is important that you pre-register in time or you wont be able to join.

On the home page of the OFC, you will find banners of the upcoming events that are open to pre-register. On the tab "Events" you will have an overview on all former and upcoming events and can also have a look at the details again. All can click on all buttons on their website, that are shown below in orange on the screenshot:

If you have chosen the event that you would like to pre-register for, click on the button "Sign Up" and you will get forwarded to the events info page, where all events are listed:

If you scroll down, you can see the registration details and you need to fill in your username and the e-mail used for the account:

From the dropdown menu, you can chose your preferred forum that you would like to represent in the OFC / GGE event. For the GGE events, you are automatically registered for your country, because the site checks the IP adress and forwards it, therefor the country is already preselected.

Below all this you can also see the leaderboard of sign ups for the event and when the tournaments are history, also the results.

Please remember to sign up in time, before the pre-registration closes - when you wait too long, you will not be able to join these restricted tournaments. Also notice, that you have to register for the events manually when they are registered - you are not automatically registered for the events when you pre-registered on the OFC website! The events are usually listed on the hosting poker site a few days prior to the events, and you will also receive a reminder when the games will take place. Once pre-registered for the OFC events, you will receive the official newsletter regularly with the upcoming tournaments. Also check back your preferred forum for the announcements and if needed, download links for the hosting pokersite.
