There are some days when destiny decides over the fate at the poker tables and last night was most certainly the moment of glory for Christophe Marcault on the final table of the $1,100 CPT St Maarten. Early on he survived a crucial all in with AhJh against the TcTs of Christophe Rosso on a JdTd2s by completing a runner runner full house.
Down to three players he only had 10 big blinds left and doubled up with QsJh against the KhKd of Will Failla by making two pair. Marcault doubled up several further times through "The Thrill" and then had a run of good cards and decisions to establish a large lead over Failla before dashing the final blow with Ac4s versus KdTd. For his efforts, the Frenchman scored a payday of $41,000 whereas WPT champion Will Failla had to settle for second place and $24,000.

Poker Royale boss Peter Hajszan was the first player to hit the rail after getting his short stack in with ace-queen against ace-king and took 9th place out of 150 entries. Yannick Gauthier was next to fall after flat-calling a raise by Will Failla with Ax9x and failing to improve on a nine-high flop against the pocket jacks of Failla. Cedric Adam followed in seventh place and Failla then took an enormous lead by eliminating Bob Bounahra and Sabina Hiatullah in the last hand before the dinner break.
The last William Hill online qualifier had three-bet for the third hand in a row and Bounahra shoved for 300,000 with QcQh before Failla moved all in over the top with KdKh. Hiatullah called off with AsKc and the board ran out 2hJd5c4c6c. Dan Murariu was eliminated in 4th place after first losing a pot to Christophe Marcault and then falling short with AdQh
against the AcKh of Christophe Rosso.
Down to three players, Marcault was the short stack but Rosso would bow out in third place after losing a massive pot to the rivered nut flush of Will Failla. It would be "The Thrill" to take the remainder of his stack as well when turning top pair and Rosso calling off with Qd4d for a gutshot that didn't arrive. In heads-up, Failla had a 4-1 lead but could not close it off before losing every single bigger hand after that.
